The Viessmann Group relies on innovative production technologies worldwide. At the Berlin site, a new robot system from CLOOS not only takes over the welding, but also the handling of the boilers. The positioner grips and clamps the boilers fully automatically in order to always bring the workpiece into the optimum position for welding and for insertion and removal. Once one side has been welded, the positioner rotates the boiler fully automatically to weld the other side. The new system can flexibly process different boiler types. As the boilers are rotated fully automatically directly in the system and the component tolerances are automatically compensated during the welding process, set-up and cycle times are reduced considerably, as are production costs.
