AGCO reduces expenditure of time by one third
With the robotic welding system by CLOOS, the tractor manufacturer AGCO can now join thick sheet metal parts significantly faster. Ludwig Litschko sums it up as follows: “With the new robotic welding system, we’re able to join our parts about one third faster on average than with the robotic systems we used before.“ The head of welding technology at AGCO GmbH & Co. talks here about a compact system of the C series which has been in service since October 2005.
Ease of use of calibrated welding power source
For the joining tasks to
be carried out at AGCO, the compact welding system has been equipped with a
powerful 400 A pulse welding power source. In this finely tuned system, all
relevant parameters and settings can be controlled easily from a hand-held,
portable robot programming device – even during the welding operation. In all
gas-shielded metal arc welding processes, the selectable function Clean Start
(low-splatter ignition) provides for a soft, safe ignition. “Irrespective of
the material, sheet thickness and welding task, the system delivers good,
repeatable results”, confirms Ludwig Litschko.
Technical specifications
of the robotic welding system
- Two-station positioner permits simultaneous working of the operator and of the robot
- Workpiece positioner puts the workpiece in the optimal position and ensures top-notch welding results
- Maximum safety by means of safety fence, photoelectric barrier and glare shield
- Accurate joining of 16 different tractor components
